Which Juicer Yields More Juice?
Juicing is a great way to enjoy your favorite fruit or vegetable drink while keeping yourself healthy. There are a lot of juicers available in the market but it is really important for you to know and understand which juicers would fit for you best. Aside from considering the factors like the effectiveness of your juicer to keep the nutrients of the fruit or vegetables, it is also good to choose a juicer that yields more juice.
On the average, consumption of juices is kept to not more than 6 ounce. But if a person is a protein type, 3-4 ounce of juice is already a huge amount. Protein type of people tends to react differently to foods or beverages they take
We already know that there are basic type of juicers that we can choose from:
1. A centrifugal juicer and
2. Non-centrifugal juicer such as masticating juicer, single gear cold press juicer and twin gear juicer which is also known as triturating juicer.
From the above-mentioned juicers, the advantages of using a certain type also vary. In order for you to get a better view on how to choose which juicer has more benefits, here are some of the known advantages and differences of each juicer.
Centrifugal juicer:
This juicer has a flat cutting blade, which spins rapidly and strainer to separate the pulp. This type of juicer is said to produce less juice and remove some of the nutrients from the fruit or vegetable you juiced. The rapid spinning of blades produces heat and static electricity that serves as a factor for the juice to lose some nutrient. Huge amount of air are also pulled by the rapid spinning, which can cause oxidation while on the process of juicing. This oxidation also causes loss of some nutrients. The amount of juice you can produce from juicers can be controlled, however the longer you juice your fruit or vegetables with a centrifugal juicer, the more nutrients are lost. Quality of your juice suffers. This type of juicer is commonly used because it operates faster than other juicers.
Non-centrifugal juicer:
This type of juicer such as a masticating juicer, cold press juicer, and twin gear juicer works slower than a centrifugal juicer. Juicing technique is through crushing, chewing and grinding finely prior to pressing and squeezing them to get the juice. Non-centrifugal juicers mostly work from rate of 80 rpm to 200 rpm. Also, these juicers can effectively juice wheatgrass and leafy green vegetables unlike centrifugal juicers that can’t process fibrous vegetables. Most people who enjoy nutritious food and beverages prefer to use this type of juicer. Aside from the quality of juice it produces, this juicer is also more versatile when it comes to use. This is not just used for juicing. You can process foods to make nut butters, frozen fruit deserts, pasta shapes, and baby food.
In conclusion of this comparison, the use of a non-centrifugal juicer is said to produce higher yield and quality of food due to its slow operation. Processing the food slower, you’ll be able to extract more of its juices and prevent production of heat, friction and oxidation that causes nutrient loss.
