Citrus Juicers

Having a glass of orange juice in the morning is always nice, especially when you pair it with your favorite breakfast meals.  But what makes it better is when your orange juice is freshly squeezed. Having a glass of fresh orange juice doesn’t mean that you have to go and squeeze the fruit by yourself.  Yes, this was done years ago, of course, but now everything’s different.  You can now easily extract the juice from oranges by using citrus juicers.

Extracting orange juice can be done either manually or by electric means.

Juicers like a manual citrus press and an electric juicer, can allow you to get the most out of citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, limes, tangerines and grapefruits.  They are specifically designed to juice these kinds of fruits because some cannot handle other components such as seeds and those think outer skin of these fruits.

This kind of juicer is rather convenient because some juicers can allow you to extract juice from these fruits without removing their skin. As mentioned, there are two basic kinds of a manual juicer and an electric citrus juicer.

Electric juicers are also known as electric reamers are automatic and powered by electricity. The combination of the spinning motion and with the combination of the pressure from the reamer forces, the juice is then extracted from the juicer. This electric citrus juicer often comes with a pulp strainer and a container to filter and collect the fresh juice taken from the fruit.

Be sure that your juicer has a strainer because other devices don’t have any strainers or filters. Although, having an electric juicer is much easier than actually manually extracting them, some people think that it brings out too much bitterness in the juice since bitter tasting oils gets scraped off the skin of certain fruits and are blended with the juice itself, thus making it a bit bitter than the actual juice should taste. Yes, electric juicers can give you instant juice but if it tastes bitter than the actual taste should be, maybe you should think about getting one right away.

On the other hand, a manual citrus juicer always comes in handy. The fact that is doesn’t require any electricity to use one is already a good thing. Manual juicers are made from plastic and uses leverage to extract juice from the fruit. By squeezing the fruit in between the two handles, it works completely like a pressing machine.

The advantage of using a manual citrus juicer is that it is more effective at squeezing out the juice from a fruit. It doesn’t complicate the taste since no oils of the peel is mixed with the juice. It is also easy to clean and can be maintained for a long period of time. They are also easy to store since they are not as bulky compared to that of an electric juicer.

So overall, once you have made up your mind on what kind of citrus juicer you want to get, make sure first that it is easy on your pocket as well as being user friendly. In the end really, it’s up to the user on which kind of device would give him the satisfaction he needs when it comes to his or her juice.
